On past the Gunflint Trail out on Highway 61
The sun’s scowled off, the moon smiles down
Reflecting like a pinwheel tonight
Spinning ‘round and ‘round

My dear wife left, said I’ve got no style
She’s a black haired Madonna with a machine gun smile
She’s a magician of great skill
She can make a mountain out of a mole hill

The stone bridge sleeps, the lighthouse beams
Blue thoughts weaving in and out of my red-eyed dreams
Sometimes I see hear in the cloud-line seams

Night after day, I drive this road
Try to steer around the deer and pick up another load
